2. Website delivery and server logs
When you request a page, your browser transmits technical information needed to deliver and secure the website. This can include your IP address, request date and time, requested URL and query parameters, HTTP status, transferred data volume, browser information (user agent) and any referrer supplied by your browser. Error logs may contain additional technical details about failed requests. Please do not put personal or confidential information in URLs.
The purpose is to provide the website reliably, diagnose errors and prevent misuse. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR: our legitimate interest in a secure, functioning website. Providing the connection data is technically necessary to retrieve the site; otherwise delivery is not possible.
The origin server is hosted by Hetzner Online GmbH, Industriestr. 25, 91710 Gunzenhausen, Germany, at Falkenstein, Germany. Hetzner provides hosting infrastructure and may process technical data in that role. Hetzner privacy policy.
Origin access and error logs are rotated daily, with 14 rotated files retained in addition to the current log. Normal retention is therefore approximately 15 days. Information required to investigate a specific security incident or establish, exercise or defend legal claims may be retained separately for as long as necessary for that purpose.
3. Cloudflare delivery and protection
Traffic to this domain passes through Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA, before reaching our server. Cloudflare terminates the browser connection and processes connection and request information, including IP addresses, requested URLs, timing and technical browser information, to deliver, cache and protect the website. Hosting the page assets ourselves does not remove this processing.
The legal basis for website delivery and protection is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR, reflecting our interest in availability and protection against attacks. Cloudflare operates an international network; processing outside the EU/EEA, including in the USA, is possible. Its data processing terms include EU Standard Contractual Clauses for relevant transfers. The terms and safeguards are available in the Cloudflare Data Processing Addendum and Standard Contractual Clauses. Further details, including provider-specific retention, appear in the Cloudflare privacy policy. The origin log retention described above does not determine Cloudflare’s retention.
The current Cloudflare response also contains Network Error Logging (NEL) instructions. In browsers that support them, these can trigger connection-failure reports to a Cloudflare endpoint. Such reports concern the requested URL and technical network conditions; Cloudflare receives the connecting IP address while processing the report. See Cloudflare’s NEL documentation. These technical reports are not used by us for advertising or individual visitor profiles.
4. Local resources, cookies and browser storage
The page uses system fonts and assets served from this domain. It does not load Google Fonts, external font libraries, analytics scripts, advertising pixels, social widgets or embedded YouTube players. There is no client-side JavaScript, localStorage, sessionStorage or fingerprinting in our page code. Demonstration controls work with standard HTML and CSS.
Our page code does not set cookies. Cloudflare security challenges can vary with the request and may use security cookies. We do not use them for advertising. Storage or access that is strictly necessary to transmit communications or provide an expressly requested service is assessed under § 25(2) TDDDG; other storage or access would require prior consent under § 25(1) TDDDG. We have not added optional tracking technologies.
Ordinary browser caching can store website resources on your device. Links to other websites only take you there when you follow them; those providers then process data under their own policies.
5. Contact by email
If you contact us, we process your email address, any name you provide, message, attachments and correspondence metadata to handle your request. Please only send the information needed to answer it. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR for contractual or pre-contractual enquiries; otherwise Article 6(1)(f) GDPR, our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries.
The planned contact address is hello@video2script.com. The mailbox is currently being set up and is not yet confirmed as operational. Until it is active, please use the postal address in section 1. Once email contact is available, the routing and mailbox providers may process messages and delivery metadata for transmission, storage and security. We will add details of the actual email setup when it is activated. Contacting us does not subscribe you to a newsletter.
Correspondence is retained until the enquiry has been resolved and any necessary follow-up is complete. Where statutory retention obligations apply, the relevant correspondence is retained for that statutory period on the basis of Article 6(1)(c) GDPR. Data needed for legal claims may be retained for the applicable limitation period on the basis of Article 6(1)(f) GDPR; otherwise it is deleted when no longer needed.
6. Website and Mac app are different
Visiting this site does not upload your lecture videos, transcripts, notes or flashcards. The Mac app is designed to process these study materials locally using Whisper and a local text model. Network functions, such as model downloads, a YouTube import or future update and licence checks, are separate from local transcription and may contact their respective providers. This website policy is not a blanket promise that every app feature is offline.
There is currently no Freemius checkout, user account service or payment processing on this site. Before enabling sales or additional services, we will update the relevant information and provide any required choices.
7. Your rights
Subject to the statutory conditions, you have rights of access (Article 15 GDPR), rectification (16), erasure (17), restriction of processing (18), and data portability (20). If processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time for the future; this does not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.
Right to object: Where we rely on Article 6(1)(f) GDPR, you may object on grounds relating to your particular situation (Article 21 GDPR). We must then stop processing unless we demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds overriding your interests, rights and freedoms, or processing is required for legal claims.
Contact hello@video2script.com to exercise your rights. We do not make automated decisions producing legal or similarly significant effects about visitors, and do not profile visitors for that purpose.
8. Complaints and updates
You may lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, particularly in the EU member state of your habitual residence, workplace or the alleged infringement (Article 77 GDPR). The authority for our location is the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information, Alt-Moabit 59–61, 10555 Berlin, Germany.
We update this policy when relevant processing changes. The date above identifies this version.
